Atletico Sack Manager Abel Resino..

Atletico Madrid have sacked coach Abel Resino, the club announced on their official website on Friday morning, after a poor start to the season.Los Colchoneros were widely tipped to act after losing 4-0 to Chelsea in the Champions League in midweek and have now made a decision to look for a new trainer."Abel Resino has left the post of coach of the Atletico de Madrid first team on Friday morning," the statement on the Atletico website read. The 49-year-old trainer has overseen just one win in ten games in all competitions this season and calls for his him to go began to increase before the recent international break.Having drawn with APOEL and lost to Porto and Chelsea the team's hopes of progressing in the Champions League are slim while in la Primera Atletico are 15th with just six points.Resino made 243 appearances as a goalkeeper for Los Colchoneros and had coaching experience at Ciudad Murcia, Levante and Castellon before being approached to return to the Vicente Calderon last season. When Mexican trainer Javier Aguirre was sacked in February he agreed to take the reins and had his short-term extended after Atletic qualified for the Champions League.Speculation has been increasing about Resino's position and after the dfeat against Chelsea both Marca and El Mundo Deportivo stated that Michael Laudfrup would take over. The Dane has failed to reach an agreement with the club however and while he coujld hold further talks Luciano Spalletti, Luis Aragones, Quique Sanchez Flores and Bernd Schuster have all been touted for the post.Atletico Madrid are set to hold a press conference to explain the reasons why they felt a change of coach was required on Friday morning.
